A Teen Manifests a Positive Attitude and Questions Her Drinking Classmates To Find Out More About Alcohol Addiction and Alcohol Abuse
Diane drank to an excess on a regular basis with her friends. One Monday after all of her classes were finished, she began thinking about the amount of alcohol she consumed and the abusive and irresponsible drinking of her drinking pals. As a consequence of this, she courteously asked all of her drinking pals the following question: “what do we really know about binge drinking, alcohol abuse, alcohol poisoning, and alcoholism? Stated another way, how much alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse information do we really know? For our young age, we certainly drink in an abusive and excessive manner and I am starting to wonder if we are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related problems when we become adults.
I think we need to go on the web and find out all that is feasible about alcoholism, binge drinking, alcohol abuse, and alcohol poisoning. And then if we have any nagging issues that we can’t comprehend after we complete our web research, we can walk to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Soltes to help us understand what we don’t know.â€
It Shouldn’t Come as a Big Surprise That What Diane Mentioned Would Start a Heated Discussion
It shouldn’t come as a big shock that what Diane discussed would trigger a heated discussion. For example, her best friend since the eighth grade, Leila, stated that they are too young and too healthy to be concerned about excessive and hazardous drinking. Another drinking pal named Jay rationalized that since most high school students drink there’s no commonsensical reason why they should be any different. Another friend named Kaylen stated that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her buddies. And still another friend named Alfredo actually agreed with Diane primarily because both of his parents abused alcohol and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related problems.
Diane revealed to her pals that she comprehended everything that they had said but that engaging in hazardous drinking at such a vulnerable age in reality can’t be very healthy or something that contributes toward developing a meaningful life. When two or three of her drinking pals asked what kind of alcohol issues Diane was talking about, Diane articulated the following: alcohol-related diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease, and cancer, and other alcohol-related problems like alcoholism, alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances).
Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking Regularly Results in Drinking Problems
When Diane then stated that abusive and excessive drinking regularly results in relationship, legal, financial, and school problems, some of her drinking friends finally began to understand how far reaching and how debilitating irresponsible drinking can be. Indeed, some of her drinking friends became more “open†and started to disclose how these alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse effects had adversely affected their parents and some of their friends.
After under scoring some of the alcoholism and alcohol abuse problems that are related to unhealthy and excessive drinking, the vast majority of her drinking friends liked the idea about getting information online. They were, however, cautious about discussing their drinking situations with staff at school. As Diane heard this she thought to herself, “at least they want to learn more about their unhealthy drinking. This is a fantastic start.â€
